A street vendor displays a souvenir with pictures of Chinese President Xi and late Chinese Chairman Mao to visitors in BeijingBy Kevin Yao and Ben Blanchard BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese leaders began a four-day secret meeting on Saturday to set a reform agenda for the next decade as they try to steer the giant economy towards more sustainable growth after three decades of breakneck expansion. President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang must unleash new growth drivers as the world's second-largest economy loses steam, burdened by industrial overcapacity, piles of debt and soaring house prices. Economic reforms will dominate the meeting of the 205-member Central Committee of China's ruling Communist Party.

China inflation hits eight-month high amid tightening fear

"Although the CPI inflation was mainly pushed up by seasonal food demand, it may fuel market concerns that the central bank may tighten monetary conditions," said Li Huiyong, an economist at Shenyin & Wanguo Securities in Shanghai. Data on Friday showed China's exports rebounded by more than expected in October, adding to signs the economy has found its footing as Beijing prepares its reform agenda for the next decade. The National Bureau of Statistics said food prices rose 6.5 percent in October, quickening from 6.1 percent in September.
